2012 Stock Car National Rules

ENGINE
Engine rules are open except any engine larger than 368 cubic engines must run A 500 CFM Holley. (Must pass go no go inspection).

CHASSIS
A. Any 1968 or newer, stock passenger street type car. No commercial vehicles, convertibles, sports-cars, or station wagons allowed. Minimum stock wheel base 108" except strut cars which may be 101”.

WEIGHT
Minimum weight, including driver, after race is 2,800 pounds.  Cars utilizing a 3 link must weigh 3000 pounds. Cars with aluminum heads must add 50 pounds in front of mid plate.   Any  added weight must be securely bolted with a minimum of ½ inch bolts.

FRAME
a. American made OEM front frame clips mandatory
b. No after market front frame clips.  
c.  Clips cannot be cut forward of lower A-frames and if rear steer they cannot be cut forward of steering box or idler arms.
d. No pick-ups or foreign car or truck clips allowed. This mean no Nissan, Toyota’s etc.
e. Chevrolet motors must be in Chevrolet frames.
f. Ford and Mopar may use Chevy, Ford, or Mopar frames.
g. Full frame cars must match front to rear. See enclosed chart for measurments.

FRONT SUSPENSION

All components and mounts must be steel, unaltered OEM, in OEM location and match frame. Rubber, nylon, or steel lower A-frame bushings only. No offsets or bearing type allowed. No sway bars. Exceptions are: weight jacks allowed. Must be in centerline of spring tower. OEM upper A- frame mounts may be moved or replaced with aftermarket steel non- adjustable mount matching upper A frame bolt on design. OEM or OEM replacement design ball joints allowed. Upper A frame may be aftermarket but must be non- adjustable. IMCA approved type recommended. Shock location may be moved. Frame may not be altered in any way. Single hole shock mounts only. Tie rod adjusting sleeve may be replaced with swedge tube. No suspension adjustments inside of drivers compartment. Spindles must be steel. No aluminum.

STEERING
All steering must use stock sector boxes in stock location. Rack and pinion cars must use stock components in stock location.

SHOCKS
One steel non adjustable unaltered shock per wheel No coil over, air or remote reservoir shocks. No Schrader or bladder type valves allowed. No coil over eliminators. 

SPRINGS
One steel spring per wheel only. All coil springs must be 4.5 inches minimum diameter, non- progressive, except strut Camaros and Firebirds which must use stock size struts in stock location.

REAR SUSPENSION
Option 1: All components and mounts must be steel, unaltered OEM in OEM location and match frame. No independent rear suspensions. OEM rubber or nylon control arm bushings only. No offset or bearing type. Welded single hole shock mounts only. Exceptions are coil springs may be moved, but center line of axle tube can be no further forward than the front of spring, or no further back than rear of spring. Shocks may be moved but must remain behind housing. Rear end lower control arm mounts maximum 7.5 inches long. May have maximum 5 holes for adjustment. Upper control arm mounts on rear end must be level with each other. May use stock replacement length Speedway upper and lower control arms

OPTION 2: Same basic rules as above but may run a 3-link with stock length  bottom control arms in stock location. Upper link must be solid with no cushion of any kind, and may not extend beyond the rear of the drivers sear.

OPTION 3: Strut cars. Must have all struts in stock locations.  

NO MIXING OF OPTIONS.  
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        BODY
Gutting allowed. All body chrome, glass, plastic, and interior must be removed. All doors and trunks  must  be welded or bolted. Body must be neat and have acceptable Front Firewall. Rear Firewall  may be stock, with all openings sealed or may he metal of minimum 20 gauge thickness. In case, the top, bottom, and both sides must he fully sealed and with no openings. Fuel Cells may protrude through bottom of trunk, and must have adequate protection (drop hoop, Etc..), and must be in steel case. The front windshield area must be covered with approved driver Protection screen. Stock appearing rubber or plastic nose pieces are recommended. The car must be brightly painted in colors that contrast with the car number. Numbers must be at least 18” in height and 3” in width on both doors, top and rear of car. Aftermarket bodies will be allowed, but I prefer them to look factory. Aftermarket spoilers may be no taller than 8 inches with sideboards tapering to 1 inch no more than 12 inches to the front.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

SAFETY
ALL CARS SUBJECT TO INSPECTION AT ANY TIME.
A. Mandatory: 3” wide safety belt and shoulder harness with two belts over shoulder and of the quick release type. All belts must be securely fastened to the frame or roll cage. Belts must come from behind the driver.
B. Mandatory: Shock resistant roll bar padding.
C. Mandatory: Two throttle return springs, steel toe loop on throttle pedal is required.
D. Mandatory: All cars must have a fire extinguisher securely mounted within the reach of the driver for emergency use. No extinguisher may be taped to the mounting bracket or roll bar cage.
E. Mandatory: All drivers must wear driving suits made of a fire resistant material, and the suit should effectively cover the drivers body.
F. Mandatory: Seats that have been approved for marketing as racing seats may be used if properly secured to body chassis and roll cage with aircraft bolts a minimum of 3/8” diameter.
G. Mandatory: Racing helmets meeting specifications set forth in TITLE 49, CODE OF

REGULATIONS, Part 571, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 571.218, or meeting the specifications set forth by the American National Standards Institute Inc. In ANSI 290.1-1971, ANS 290.1-1973, and ANSI 290.1-1979 required and must be worn at all times car is on track. Helmets must accompany car at time of inspection.

BRAKES
All cars must have minimum of four wheel brakes in working order. Brake balancing allowed. (Note rear calipers and rotors need not match).

WHEELS
Steel wheels only. Maximum 10” wide. One valve stem per wheel. No bleed off valves permitted, All wheels must have a minimum of five 1” lug nuts. Reinforcing of wheels is permitted. No dual, magnesium, or aluminum wheel allowed. All wheels must have double center plates or have 1/4” thick steel centers. Wide 5 pattern is okay. Cars may run bead locks on right side of car only.

TIRES
NASCAR pull-offs only!! Must durometer 60 or better.

MUFFLERS
Headers may be used. With headers, 16” Lobak mufflers or comparable brand are required. Only 2 mufflers per car allowed. No muffler modifications are allowed, NO zoomies. No leaks in exhaust on front side of mufflers. Cross over type headers may not be exposed in drivers compartment. Must exit through floorboard. Holes through body must be neat and sliced to header tubes.

ROLL CAGES
Steel roll cage mandatory. Front and rear bars must be connected at top (cage type). At least three side door bars front and rear roll bars is required. Minimum 1‘1/2” O.D. will require minimum of.120” wall tubing. Rear hoop must be welded to floor no more than 4” past door crack.

REAR-END
Any passenger car or pickup production rear end may be locked by: welding spider gears, mini spool, or by whatever mean. Stock Ford 9” may be used. Floaters acceptable. No limited slip, Detroit lockers, except ones that are locked solid with a spool locking device                                                                          

TRANSMISSION
OEM Standard or Automatic
A. Type optional. Bert or Brenn type of transmissions are okay.
B. Car must have self starter. neutral, and reverse gear in operating order.
C. Car must be able to leave pits and starting line under it’s own power.
D. From a neutral position, with engine running, car must be able to go forward and backward.
E. Drive shafts must be painted white.
F. Safety loops are mandatory.
G. Lakewood type scatter shield bell housing is required when needed.

BUMPERS
A. Bumpers need to look as close to stock as possible. No railroad type of bumpers. Uprights to protect the radiator may be constructed inside grill shell.
B. Nerf bars optional, but if used must be within 1” of body. Bumpers and nerf bars must have rounded ends with no sharp edges.

FUEL TANK
A fuel cell is mandatory. Fuel cell must be fully enclosed in a metal box of .20 gauge thickness minimum. In either case, the fuel container must be securely fastened to the trunk floor and frame with metal straps and bolts. Drain holes of 1/8” should be drilled in the metal box and trunk floor to release any fuel spillage that may occur.

FUEL
Race fuel or Methanol. No Additives

RADIATOR
Only one radiator and it must he centered in front of engine in vertical position. No auxiliary cooling tanks allowed. Metal Shrouds are Mandatory!

BATTERY
Must be securely mounted and covered with sheet rubber. Battery must be in good working 
condition and capable of starting car.

CAR NUMBERS: 
There will be no duplication of numbers. Each car must have a unique number, not a number and letter. Numbers are approved on a first come first serve basis. If you are wanting to run your favorite number, enter early. Please list number choices on entry form.

MISCELLANEOUS
A. Rearview mirrors are not allowed. No radio transceiver communications systems allowed,
B. Rupture of a gas tank or loss of fuel requires leaving the race track immediately.. Any loss of wheels, flat tires, dislodged hoods or body parts requires leaving the race track immediately.

ALL DRIVERS MUST HAVE WORKING RACEIVER BEFORE ENTERING TRACK. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!
